Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Start off your visit on the 14th (Mon): step into the grandiose world of Castelo dos Mouros and then indulge in some personalized pampering at some of the best spas. Keep things going the next day: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Mosteiro dos Jeronimos, then wander the streets of Parque das Nacoes, then get to know the fascinating history of Miradouro de Santa Luzia, and finally step into the grandiose world of Castelo de S. Jorge.

Manchester, UK to Lisbon is an approximately 6-hour flight. You can also do a combination of car and train; or take a train. In November, Lisbon is somewhat warmer than Manchester - with highs of 21°C and lows of 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Wed) so you can drive to Fatima.

Fatima — 2 nights

Fátima is a civil parish in the municipality of Ourém, in the Portuguese Santarém District. Popular historic sites such as Basilica de Nossa Senhora do Rosario de Fatima and Capela Das Aparicoes are in your itinerary. Visit Praia Foz do Arelho and Praia da Nazare for some beach relaxation. Explore Fatima's surroundings by going to Miradouro do Suberco (in Nazare), Monastery of Alcobaca (in Alcobaca) and Convento de Cristo (in Tomar). There's much more to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Batalha Monastery, explore the historical opulence of Castelo de Leiria, and pause for some serene contemplation at Capelas Imperfeitas.
