Kylemore

— 2 nights
Established on the same grounds as Kylemore Castle, Kylemore Abbey monastery was founded in 1920 for Benedictine nuns who escaped from Belgium during World War I. The nuns ran an international boarding school and a day school to provide Catholic education to young girls until 2010, when the school finally ceased operation.
Start off your visit on the 16th (Sun): take in the architecture and atmosphere at Gothic Chapel and then admire the natural beauty at Kylemore Abbey & Victorian Walled Garden. Keep things going the next day: delve into the distant past at Renvyle Castle and then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Twelve Bens of Connemara.

To find other places to visit, photos, traveler tips, and other tourist information, refer to the Kylemore trip planner.

The Route module shows you travel options from your home to Kylemore. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 18th (Tue) to allow time for the car ride to Louisburgh.
