The only city in the world to have hosted both summer and winter Olympics, the resort town of Karuizawa-machi boasts clean air, impressive mountain scenery, and many outdoor activities and hot springs.
Zenko-ji Temple and Nunobiki Kannon are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Your inner history buff will appreciate Matsushiro and Uedajo Castle. Explore Karuizawa-machi's surroundings by going to Kaminaridaki Falls (in Takayama-mura), Kaio-in Temple (in Komoro) and Mizuno Museum (in Nagano). On the 7th (Sun), spend an exhilarating day on the slopes at Tanigawadaketenjindaira Ski Area. On the 4th (Thu), spend an exhilarating day on the slopes at Karuizawa Prince Hotel Ski Resort.
