Trieste is a charming old town with a quiet atmosphere often compared to eastern European cities.
Kick off your visit on the 15th (Mon): examine the collection at San Sabba Rice Mill - National Monument, then don't miss a visit to Piazza dell'Unita d'Italia, and then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Saint Giusto Cathedral. Keep things going the next day: get engrossed in the history at Miramare Castle-Historical Museum, then identify plant and animal life at Riserva Naturale Marina di Miramare, then Head underground at The Cave "Grotta Gigante", and finally hike along Rilke Trail.

Copenhagen, Denmark to Trieste is an approximately 7-hour combination of flight and shuttle. You can also drive; or do a combination of car and train. Traveling from Copenhagen in August, expect Trieste to be somewhat warmer, temps between 34°C and 23°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Tue) to allow enough time to drive to Tarvisio.

Cimolais is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Pordenone in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 130km northwest of Trieste and about 40km northwest of Pordenone. On the 19th (Fri), hike along Forcella del Duranno Dalla Val Zemola and then admire the engineering at Vajont Dam.
