Located just 140 km (90 mi) from Cuba, Key West is an island only about 6.4 km (4 mi) long and 1.6 km (1 mi) wide.
On the 27th (Fri), indulge in some personalized pampering at SpaTerre at Little Palm Island Resort and then enjoy the sand and surf at Bahia Honda State Park. New York City to Key West is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Traveling from New York City in January, expect Key West to be much hotter, temps between 76°F and 66°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 28th (Sat) so you can drive to Key Largo.

The northernmost island of the Florida Keys, Key Largo provides stunning scenery, a number of watersports opportunities, and plenty of areas to relax on vacation.
On the 29th (Sun), get a dose of the wild on Capt. Sterling's Everglades Eco-Tours, then discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour, and then look for all kinds of wild species at Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center.

Getting from Key West to Key Largo by car takes about 2.5 hours. Other options: take a bus. Traveling from Key West in January, expect little chillier with lows of 61°F in Key Largo. Cap off your sightseeing on the 29th (Sun) early enough to go by car to Miami Beach.

Miami Beach — 1 night

The World's Playground

Separated by water from the neighboring city of Miami, Miami Beach sits on a barrier island between Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
On the 30th (Mon), browse the different shops at Lincoln Road, wander the streets of Espanola Way, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Art Deco Historic District, and finally take a leisurely stroll along Miami Beach & Boardwalk.

You can drive from Key Largo to Miami Beach in 1.5 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or take a bus. In January, plan for daily highs up to 77°F, and evening lows to 63°F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Mon) to allow enough time to fly to Richmond.

The River City

The capital city of Virginia, Richmond has diverse architecture, a large collection of monuments, and world-class museums that reveal the city's important role in American history.
Kick off your visit on the 31st (Tue): admire the masterpieces at Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, look for all kinds of wild species at Agecroft Hall & Gardens, then indulge in some personalized pampering at some of the best spas, and finally sample the tasty concoctions at Strangeways Brewing.

You can fly from Miami Beach to Richmond in 4 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of bus and train. In January, Richmond is cooler than Miami Beach - with highs of 47°F and lows of 28°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 31st (Tue) so you can catch the flight back home.
