Trails of Legends and Adventures

The center of Cherokee culture in the eastern part of the country, the town named after this Native American tribe serves as a base camp for hiking in the Great Smoky Mountains.
Museum-lovers will get to explore Wheels Through Time Transportation Museum and Museum of the Cherokee Indian. Visiting Clingmans Dome and Cradle of Forestry will get you outdoors. Get out of town with these interesting Cherokee side-trips: Devil's Courthouse (in Pisgah Forest), Cedar Hill Studio & Gallery (in Waynesville) and River Rafting & Tubing (in Bryson City). Spend the 28th (Fri) exploring nature at Andrew Johnson National Historic Site. And it doesn't end there: get engrossed in the history at Mountain Farm Museum, admire the sheer force of Mingo Falls, contemplate the long history of Oconaluftee Indian Village, and try your luck at Casino at Harrah’s Cherokee.
