Forte dei Marmi is a sea town and comune in the province of Lucca, in northern Tuscany (Italy). Centro Storico del Paese di Tellaro and Castello di Vigoleno are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Castello di Bardi and Torre Grossa. Get out of town with these interesting Forte Dei Marmi side-trips: Levanto (Ex Gallerie, Levanto to Monterosso Trail, & more), Portofino (Faro di Portofino, Church of San Giorgio, & more) and Parma (Cattedrale di Parma, Food Tours, & more). Spend the 20th (Fri) exploring nature at Parco Nazionale Cinque Terre. There's lots more to do: explore the gorgeous colors at Costiera di Calafuria, examine the collection at Miniera di Gambatesa, look for all kinds of wild species at Isola Palmaria, and learn about winemaking at Guardastelle Vineyard.

To see where to stay, more things to do, traveler tips, and tourist information, use the Forte Dei Marmi trip planner.

If you are flying in from Australia, the closest major airports are Pisa International Airport, Peretola Airport and Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport. Expect a daytime high around 15°C in December, and nighttime lows around 4°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 20th (Mon) to allow enough time to travel back home.
