Cartagena

The site of the continent's first Spanish colony, Cartagena retains much of its colonial flavor thanks to a World Heritage-listed old town, encircled by old walls and protected by imposing fortresses.
Visit Playa Blanca and Playa De Punta Arena for some beach relaxation. Get in touch with nature at Oceanario and Boats4U. Spend the 16th (Mon) among aquatic life with a scuba or snorkeling tour. On the 20th (Fri), spend a cool day on the water with Veleros Colombia. There's much more to do: get the lay of the land with Walking tours, choose your vessel at Arrecife Boat Rentals, make a trip to Portal de Los Dulces, and admire the landmark architecture of St. Catherine of Alexandria Cathedral.

Zurich, Switzerland to Cartagena is an approximately 16-hour flight. You can also do a combination of train and flight. The time zone changes from Central European Time to Colombia Time, which is usually a -6 hour difference. Traveling from Zurich in July, things will get a bit warmer in Cartagena: highs are around 38°C and lows about 30°C.
