Museum-lovers will get to explore Heraklion Archaeological Museum and Kazantzakis Museum. We've included these beaches for you: Stalis Beach and Potamos Beach. Explore Hersonissos' surroundings by going to Aegeo Spas (in Istron), Agios Nikolaos (Ammoudi Beach, Panagias Keras Church, &more) and Heraklion (Domaine Paterianakis, Room Escape Games, &more). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Koutsounari Long Beach, stroll through Analipsi Beach, get engrossed in the history at Historical Museum of Crete, and contemplate the long history of Spinalonga (Kalydon).

Linz, Austria to Hersonissos is an approximately 9.5-hour combination of flight and car. The time zone difference when traveling from Linz to Hersonissos is 1 hour. Expect a daytime high around 32°C in September, and nighttime lows around 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Wed) to allow enough time to drive to Rethymnon.

Rethymnon — 13 nights

Rethymnon combines the old-fashioned charm of a small town with proximity to long sandy beaches with all the modern conveniences usually found in big tourist resorts.
Step off the beaten path and head to Preveli Beach and Plakias Beach. The Venetian Fortezza and The Holy Monastery of Preveli will appeal to history buffs. Venture out of the city with trips to Winery Dourakis (in Alikampos), Georgioupolis (St. Nicholas Church & Kalivaki Beach) and War Museum Askifou (in Askifou). There's still lots to do: kick back and relax at Triopetra Beach, get interesting insight from Tours, tour the pleasant surroundings at Karavostasi Beach, and take a stroll through Rethymnon Old Town.

Drive from Hersonissos to Rethymnon in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a shuttle; or take a bus. In October in Rethymnon, expect temperatures between 28°C during the day and 19°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 25th (Tue) to allow enough time to drive to Chania Town.
