The country's second city, Busan has often been referred to as South Korea's summer capital.
Go for a jaunt from Busan to Geoje to see Oedo Botania about 1h 40 min away. The adventure continues: kick back and relax at Haeundae Beach, stroll around Yongdusan Park, take in the spiritual surroundings of Haedong Yonggungsa, and relax and rejuvenate at some of the best spas.

Berlin, Germany to Busan is an approximately 15-hour flight. The time zone changes from Central European Standard Time to Korean Standard Time, which is usually an 8 hour difference. You can drive from Busan to Gyeongju in 1.5 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or take a train. Traveling from Busan in December, expect nights in Gyeongju to be about the same, around 0°C, while days are a bit cooler, around 3°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 1st (Sun) so you can catch the flight to Sokcho.

Tourism in Sokcho mostly revolves around the local national park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
Venture out of the city with trips to Charmsori Gramophone & Edison Science Museum (in Gangneung), Baekdamsa Temple (in Inje-gun) and Yangyang-gun (Naksansa Temple, Osaek Jujeongol Valley, &more). Spend the 3rd (Tue) exploring nature at Seoraksan National Park. There's still lots to do: hike along Ulsanbawi Rock, enjoy the sand and surf at Cheonjin Beach, take in the natural beauty of Cheoksan Foot Spa Park, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sinheungsa Temple.
