Probably one of Mexico's best-known beach resorts, Acapulco came into prominence in the mid-20th century, when it became a getaway for Hollywood movie starts and European millionaires.
Take a break from the city and head to Campamento Tortuguero Playa Hermosa and Playa Ventura. Get a sense of the local culture at El Fuerte de San Diego and Zona Arqueologica de Tehuacalco. Get out of town with these interesting Acapulco side-trips: Chilpancingo de los Bravo (Museo La Avispa & Museo regional de Chilpancingo) and Laguna de Coyuca (in Pie de la Cuesta). Spend the 23rd (Sun) exploring nature at Parque Nacional El Veladero. There's much more to do: enjoy the sand and surf at Barra Vieja Beach, tour the pleasant surroundings at Playa Condesa, take in the exciting artwork at House of Culture, and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Capilla de la Paz (Chapel of Peace).

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major airport is General Juan N Alvarez International Airport. In June in Acapulco, expect temperatures between 93°F during the day and 75°F at night. On the 17th (Wed), you're off tohome.
