Kalpetta

— 3 nights
One of the district's main tourist hubs, Kalpetta offers easy access to a number of man-made and natural attractions.
Take a break from Kalpetta with a short trip to Banasurasagar Dam in Vythiri, about 48 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: take in the awesome beauty at Chembra, take in panoramic vistas at Lakkidi View Point, explore the activities along Pookot Lake, and admire the sheer force of Soochippara Falls (Sentinel Rock Waterfall).

To see reviews, other places to visit, maps, and other tourist information, use the Kalpetta road trip planner.

New Delhi to Kalpetta is an approximately 5-hour flight. You can also drive; or do a combination of train and taxi. When traveling from New Delhi in October, plan for a bit cooler days in Kalpetta, with highs around 36°C, while nights are somewhat warmer with lows around 28°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 18th (Mon) so you can catch the flight back home.

Wayanad District tourism sector relies heavily on visitors from the neighboring states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, as well as a growing number of international tourists. Boasting solitary pine forest in Kerala, as well as an abundance of paddy fields and picturesque mountain landscapes, the district is known first and foremost for its scenic nature. A Wayanad District holiday offers you a chance to spot some of the most majestic land animals still thriving in the wild--the region shelters more Asian elephants than any other place in the world.
