Jerusalem of Lithuania

The capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, boasts an impressive medieval quarter--one of the continent's largest and a World Heritage Site with almost 2,000 historical buildings.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Spas and One Adventure Park. Step out of the city life by going to Snow Arena and Liepkalnis. Get out of town with these interesting Vilnius side-trips: Kaunas (Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul, Museum of History of Lithuanian Medicine and Pharmacy, &more), Rumsiskes Open-Air Museum (in Rumsiskes) and Druskininkai (Church of Saint Mary's Scapular & Church of the Icon of Mother of God of All the Afflicted). There's lots more to do: pause for some serene contemplation at Church of St. Theresa, examine the collection at Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, wander the streets of Gediminas Avenue, and take an in-depth tour of Holocaust Museum (The Green House).

To find photos, reviews, maps, and other tourist information, read our Vilnius driving holiday planner.

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major aiports are Vilnius International Airport and Kaunas International Airport. In March, plan for daily highs up to 6°C, and evening lows to -2°C.
