Detroit — 3 nights

Founded in 1701 by a French explorer and adventurer, Detroit exerted a profound impact on the world for most of the 20th century.
When in Detroit, make a side trip to see Morley Candy Makers - The Home of Sanders Candy in Clinton Township, approximately Clinton Township away. And it doesn't end there: explore the world behind art at Detroit Institute of Arts, see the interesting displays at The Henry Ford, make a trip to Michigan Soldiers and Sailors Monument, and contemplate the long history of The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant.

For maps, traveler tips, ratings, and other tourist information, refer to the Detroit travel planner.

New York City to Detroit is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. Traveling from New York City in September, expect Detroit to be little chillier, temps between 75°F and 58°F. Cap off your sightseeing on the 23rd (Thu) early enough to catch the flight back home.
