Where other cities run, New Plymouth prefers to stroll.

Get some cultural insight at Govett-Brewster Art Gallery / Len Lye Centre and Port Taranaki Walkway. Visit Cape Egmont Lighthouse and Hurworth Cottage for their historical value. Get out of town with these interesting New Plymouth side-trips: Lake Rotokare (in Rawhitiroa), Stratford (The Goblin Forest & Fenton Street Art Collective) and Tawhiti Museum (in Hawera). There's lots more to do: learn about wildlife with up-close encounters at Pukekura Park, look for gifts at Giles Chocolatier, take in the pleasant sights at Koru Pa, and take in the dramatic scenery at Dawson Falls.
