Located on the Sarthe River, Le Mans has beautiful gothic cultural reminders of the past with a gloriously restored old city made popular as the backdrop for movie production.
Popular historic sites such as Chateau de Villandry and Le Chateau du Clos Luce - Parc Leonardo da Vinci are in your itinerary. Chateau Royal d'Amboise and Cathedrale de Saint-Julien de Mans are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Change things up with these side-trips from Le Mans: Chateau de Chenonceau (in Chenonceaux) and Charcuterie J.L PALLU (in Longny-au-Perche). There's much more to do: contemplate the long history of Entre Cours et Jardins - Cite Plantagenet, pause for some photo ops at Enceinte Gallo-Romaine du Mans, get engrossed in the history at 24 Hours of Le Mans Museum, and pause for some serene contemplation at Eglise Notre-Dame de la Couture.

In August, daytime highs in Le Mans are 29°C, while nighttime lows are 16°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 22nd (Thu) early enough to travel back home.
