Houston — 3 nights

Bayou City

Although urban sprawl remains synonymous with Houston, most of the city's tourist attractions lie within the relatively small downtown area, surrounded by diverse neighborhoods housing the nation's biggest African-American, Asian-American, and Latino communities.
Family-friendly places like Houston Zoo and The Seawall will thrill your kids. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Houston: Kemah Boardwalk (in Kemah) and Moody Gardens (in Galveston). And it doesn't end there: get curious at The Houston Museum of Natural Science, walk around Buffalo Bayou Park, test your problem-solving skills at popular escape rooms, and look for all kinds of wild species at Cockrell Butterfly Center.

Dallas to Houston is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. In July, plan for daily highs up to 95°F, and evening lows to 77°F. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 19th (Tue) early enough to travel back home.
