Herning is a Danish city in Region Midtjylland, on the Jutland peninsula. Kick off your visit on the 12th (Wed): get into the urban bustle at Herning bibliotek, see the interesting displays at Carl-Henning Pedersen & Else Alfelts Museum, then admire the striking features of Elia, and finally identify plant and animal life at Soby Brunkulslejer.

Located on the sea, Aarhus blends a world city with a small-town feel. Home to a young population, the city has a reputation for producing internationally known pop and rock musicians.
Kick off your visit on the 13th (Thu): look and learn at Aros Aarhus Kunstmuseum, see the interesting displays at Den Gamle By, and then admire the landmark architecture of Aarhus Rådhus. Keep things going the next day: get engrossed in the history at Moesgaard Museum, then engage your brain at Botanical Garden and the Greenhouses, then pause for some photo ops at Vagnende kvinde (Aarhuspigen), and finally appreciate the history behind The Well of Pigs.

Traveling by car from Herning to Aarhus takes 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. In August in Aarhus, expect temperatures between 24°C during the day and 13°C at night. On the 15th (Sat), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive back home.
