Start off your visit on the 17th (Wed): don't miss a visit to Showa no Machi, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Usajingu Shrine, examine the collection at Showa no Machi Museum, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Maki Odo, then steep yourself in history at Kumano Magaibutsu, and finally contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Fukiji Temple.

If you are flying in from Vietnam, the closest major aiports are Fukuoka Airport, Hiroshima Airport and Kagoshima Airport. In July, plan for daily highs up to 32°C, and evening lows to 28°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 17th (Wed) so you can travel to Nagasaki.

City of Peace

The hilly port city of Nagasaki has become known internationally as one of the two Japanese cities to be destroyed by an atomic bomb towards the close of World War II.
Kick off your visit on the 18th (Thu): see the interesting displays at Nagasaki Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, take an in-depth tour of Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, stroll around Nagasaki Peace Park, make a trip to World Peace Symbol Zone, then take in the awesome beauty at Mt. Inasa, and finally see the interesting displays at Dejima. On your second day here, appreciate the history behind Hypocenter of Atomic Bombing, head off the coast to Hashima Island, then take in the spiritual surroundings of Sōfuku-ji Temple, and finally snap pictures at Megane Bridge.

Drive from Bungotakada to Nagasaki in 3.5 hours. Expect a bit warmer weather when traveling from Bungotakada in July: highs in Nagasaki hover around 36°C, while lows dip to 29°C. On the 20th (Sat), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can travel back home.
