Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.

Colosseum and Piazza Navona are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Pantheon and Vatican Museums will appeal to history buffs. Get out of town with these interesting Rome side-trips: Tivoli (Villa d'Este & Villa Adriana). There's lots more to do: contemplate the long history of Palatine Hill, take a stroll through Trastevere, take in the exciting artwork at I Colori di Dentro di Maria Grazia Luffarelli, and admire the masterpieces at Galleria Borghese.

If you are flying in from Poland, the closest major airports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport and Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport.
