Louisbourg is an unincorporated community and former town located in Nova Scotia's Cape Breton Regional Municipality.HistoryThe French military founded the Fortress of Louisbourg in 1713 and its fortified seaport on the southwest part of the harbour, naming it in honour of Louis XIV. Venture out of the city with trips to Baddeck (The Antiques Boutique, St. Michael's Catholic Church, & more), Cape Breton Clay (in Margaree Valley) and Cape Smokey Provincial Park (in Ingonish Ferry). There's lots more to do: browse the exhibits of Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site, steep yourself in history at Highland Village, stroll through Dalem Lake Provincial Park, and stop by Ed's Books and More.
