Located at the center of Yamaguchi Prefecture, the regional capital of Yamaguchi is renowned for its temples and shrines.

Step out of the city life by going to Akiyoshido and Miyajima. Your inner history buff will appreciate Itsukushima Shrine and Senjokaku. Get out of town with these interesting Yamaguchi side-trips: Bungotakada (Mudoji Temple, Fukiji Temple, &more), Hatsukaichi (Reikado, Daishoin Temple, &more) and Nagato (Misuzu Park, Omijima, &more).
