Timișoara is the capital city of Timiș County, and the main social, economic and cultural centre in western Romania.The third most populous city in the country, with 319,279 inhabitants as of the 2011 census, Timișoara is the informal capital city of the historical region of Banat. Get out of town with these interesting Timisoara side-trips: Arad (Retro IT, Trajan Bridge, & more) and La Vaioaga Waterfall (in Sasca Montana). There's lots more to do: make a trip to Piata Victoriei, have some family-friendly fun at La Pisici, have fun at Mag Tehnica, and get engrossed in the history at Muzeul Consumatorului Comunist.

The multicultural Cluj-Napoca is the capital of the historic region of Transylvania.
Venture out of the city with trips to Muzeul de Istorie Turda (in Turda) and Baile Figa (in Beclean). Curtea de Argeș is a city in Romania on the right bank of the Argeş River, where it flows through a valley of the lower Carpathians (the Făgăraș Mountains), on the railway from Pitești to the Turnu Roșu Pass. Change things up with these side-trips from Curtea de Arges: Centrul Sportiv Ceramus (in Campulung) and Cetatea Poienari (in Arefu). The booming city of Bucharest is a sophisticated metropolis with a high contrast of old- and new-world architecture.
