For sixty years until 2003, most of the Isla de Vieques was closed off to the public, with the US Navy using the island's beaches and surrounding waters for drills and testing of new military machinery, such as bombs.
Explore hidden gems such as Malecon and Stand-Up Paddleboarding. There's still lots to do: take in the waterfront at Mosquito Pier, step off the mainland to explore Vieques Island, enjoy the sand and surf at Playa Caracas, and tour the pleasant surroundings at Playa Navio.

Fajardo is a small city and municipality in Puerto Rico (U.S.) located in the east region of the island, bordering the Atlantic Ocean, north of Ceiba and east of Luquillo. Explore hidden gems such as Balneario Luquillo and Isla Palominos. Explore Fajardo's surroundings by going to Reserva Natural de Humacao (in Humacao) and El Yunque National Forest (Cascada La Mina (La Mina Falls), Yokahu Observation Tower, &more). Ponce

Ponce is both a city and a municipality in the southern part of Puerto Rico. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Sandra Farms Coffee and Museo de Arte de Ponce. Explore Ponce's surroundings by going to La Escalinata (in Yauco) and Guanica (Island Scuba & Bosque Estatal de Guanica). There's much more to do: head off the coast to Isla de Caja de Muertos, examine the collection at Parque de Bombas, take in the spiritual surroundings of Cathedral of our Lady of Guadaloupe, and don't miss a visit to Plaza Las Delicias.
