Chinguetti is a ksar or a Berber medieval trading center in northern Mauritania, located on the Adrar Plateau east of Atar.Founded in the 13th century as the center of several trans-Saharan trade routes, this small city continues to attract a handful of visitors who admire its spare architecture, scenery and ancient libraries. Chinguetti is known for historic sites. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: get your bearings at Bibliotheque Habott and take in the spiritual surroundings of Chinguetti Mosque.

Drive from Ouadane to Chinguetti in 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive. March in Chinguetti sees daily highs of 90°F and lows of 72°F at night. On the 18th (Fri), you'll travel to Atar.
