30 days in Lima, Iquitos & Guayaquil Itinerary

Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.

Step out of Lima to go to Lunahuana and see Iglesia de Santiago Apostol, which is approximately 34 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: ponder the design of Plaza de Armas (Plaza Mayor), appreciate the extensive heritage of Centro Historico de Lima, take a stroll through Miraflores, and take an in-depth tour of Museo Larco.

If you are flying in from Brazil, the closest major aiport is Jorge Chávez International Airport. In November in Lima, expect temperatures between 26°C during the day and 20°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 12th (Fri) so you can travel to Iquitos.

Traveling by flight from Lima to Iquitos takes 4 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus, car, and ferry. Prepare for somewhat warmer weather when traveling from Lima in November: high temperatures in Iquitos hover around 38°C and lows are around 26°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 20th (Sat) early enough to travel to Guayaquil.
