Komárom is a city split between Hungary on the south bank of the Danube in Komárom-Esztergom county and Slovakia on the other. The town was heavily damaged in the 1763 Komárom earthquake. The city of Komárom was formerly a separate suburban village called Újszőny. Explore Komarom's surroundings by going to Tatabanya (Tatabanya Museum, Turul Monument, &more), Pannonhalma (Pannonhalma Archabbey, Pannonhalma Abbey Gardens and Herbal Lavender House, &more) and Esztergom (Puzzle Bar, Courthouse, &more). There's still lots to do: identify plant and animal life at Fenyes Education Trail of Tata, admire the natural beauty at Alcsut Arboretum, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Zsambek Premontre monastery church ruin, and take in the views from Maria Valeria Bridge.
