Known for its idyllic location on the shores of Lake Como and at the foot of the Alps, Como is one of northern Italy's most popular tourist destinations.
Get some cultural insight at Duomo di Milano and Parrocchia SS Nabore e Felice. Get some historical perspective at Castello di Vezio and Santuario Madonna del Soccorso. Get out of town with these interesting Como side-trips: Tremezzina (Villa del Balbianello & Villa Carlotta), Dervio (Castello di Corenno Plinio & Chiesa di S. Leonardo) and Greenway del Lago di Como (in Colonno). There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Basilica di Sant'Abbondio, admire the masterpieces at i Giardini di Villa Melzi, pause for some serene contemplation at Basilica di San Giacomo, and wander the streets of Menaggio.
