Though a fairly large city in its own right, Saitama has become known primarily for its proximity to the capital, Tokyo.
Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Saitama: Mt. Takao (in Hachioji), Kawagoe (Kawagoe Ichibangai Shopping Street, Kitain, & more) and Showa Kinen Park (in Tachikawa). There's much more to do: take an in-depth tour of The Railway Museum, stroll around Saitama Prefecture Omiya Park, see the interesting displays at Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, and admire the masterpieces at Ghibli Museum Mitaka.

To see reviews, more things to do, where to stay, and other tourist information, use the Saitama day trip planning website .

If you are flying in from Taiwan, the closest major airports are Tokyo Haneda International Airport, Narita International Airport and Hyakuri Airport. Expect a daytime high around 28°C in May, and nighttime lows around 19°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Thu) so you can travel back home.
