Standing magnificently on top of a hill overlooking the Dordogne Valley filled with lush vineyards, Saint-Émilion fuses history and modern culture with medieval ambience--even in its wine bars, museums, markets, art galleries, cafes, and shops.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like La Maison du Vigneron de Sauternes and Chateau Beaurang. Do some cultural sightseeing at Vignobles Carles and Chateau Pontet-Canet. Explore Saint-Emilion's surroundings by going to Moulin de la Rouzique (in Couze-et-Saint-Front), Inter Caves Bergerac (in Bergerac) and Chateau Belingard (in Pomport). There's still lots to do: do a tasting at Chateau Castera and explore the historical opulence of Chateau Ambe Tour Pourret.

To see where to stay, ratings, other places to visit, and other tourist information, refer to the Saint-Emilion trip planner.

If you are flying in from New Zealand, the closest major airports are Bordeaux-Mérignac Airport, Bergerac-Roumanière Airport and Limoges Airport. In June in Saint-Emilion, expect temperatures between 28°C during the day and 16°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 15th (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
