Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Dedicate the 8th (Mon) to wine at some of the top wineries in the area. There's lots more to do: snap pictures at Ponte de Dom Luis I, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral), pause for some serene contemplation at Torre dos Clerigos, and go for a stroll along the water at Cais da Ribeira.

To see maps, where to stay, other places to visit, and more tourist information, refer to the Porto holiday planner.

Lisbon to Porto is an approximately 3-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a train. While traveling from Lisbon, expect little chillier days and about the same nights in Porto, ranging from highs of 26°C to lows of 16°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel back home.
