Founded in 1701 by a French explorer and adventurer, Detroit exerted a profound impact on the world for most of the 20th century.
Start off your visit on the 5th (Fri): examine the collection at Greenfield Village, examine the collection at The Henry Ford, and then pause for some photo ops at Michigan Soldiers and Sailors Monument. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: see the interesting displays at The Ford Piquette Avenue Plant, then explore the world behind art at Detroit Institute of Arts, and then steep yourself in history at Motown Museum.
