Pearl of the Danube

You might consider the city of Budapest, divided by the Danube River into two distinctive cities--Buda and Pest--to be essentially one large World Heritage Site.
Take a break from the city and head to Kayaking & Canoeing and Priest's Island (Pap-sziget). Explore hidden gems such as Wine Tours & Tastings and Vajdahunyad Castle (Vajdahunyadvar). There's lots more to do: stop by Book Cafe - Lotz Terem, wander the streets of Vaci Street, shop like a local with Andrassy Avenue, and snap pictures at Liberty Bridge (Szabadsag hid).

For maps, reviews, ratings, and more tourist information, you can read our Budapest online road trip planner.

If you are flying in from Austria, the closest major aiport is Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport. In July, daily temperatures in Budapest can reach 33°C, while at night they dip to 18°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 1st (Tue) to allow time to travel back home.
