Autun is a commune in the Saône-et-Loire department in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté in eastern France. Venture out of the city with trips to Fromagerie Gaugry (in Gevrey-Chambertin), Basilique Sainte Madeleine (in Vezelay) and Abbaye de Fontenay (in Montbard). There's much more to do: contemplate the long history of Abbey of Cluny, learn about winemaking at Clos de Vougeot, examine the collection at Le Cassissium, and pause for some serene contemplation at Abbaye Saint-Philibert.

For photos, maps, ratings, and other tourist information, read our Autun itinerary planner.

If you are flying in from Canada, the closest major airports are Dole-Tavaux Airport, Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport and Saint-Étienne-Bouthéon Airport. Expect a daytime high around 17°C in March, and nighttime lows around 1°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Fri) to allow enough time to travel back home.
