A trip to San Jose, the capital, commercial center, and cultural hub of Costa Rica, gives you a chance to experience the lively atmosphere and rich cultural past of this vibrant country.
Kick off your visit on the 13th (Wed): get engrossed in the history at National Museum (Museo Nacional), then hunt for treasures at Central Market (Mercado Central), and then wander the streets of Multiplaza.

Paris, France to San Jose is an approximately 14.5-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 7 hours traveling from Paris to San Jose. Traveling from Paris in June, expect San Jose to be somewhat warmer, temps between 32°C and 22°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 14th (Thu) to allow time to take a shuttle to Tortuguero.

Tortuguero

One of Costa Rica's least accessible destinations, Tortuguero sits within an eponymous national park and remains accessible only by plane or boat.
On the 14th (Thu), add some adventure to your tour with Tortuguero Adventures and then examine the collection at Sea Turtle Conservancy. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: identify plant and animal life at Tortuguero National Park.

Traveling by shuttle from San Jose to Tortuguero takes 3.5 hours. Traveling from San Jose in June, plan for somewhat warmer nights in Tortuguero, with lows around 27°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 16th (Sat) so you can catch the shuttle to Cahuita.

Set against the backdrop of the imposing Arenal Volcano, La Fortuna de San Carlos offers visitors a chance to explore diverse natural landscapes and sample some delicious local produce.
Start off your visit on the 19th (Tue): take in nature's colorful creations at Arenal Natura Ecological Park. On the next day, stop by Souvenir Leo, then delve into the lush surroundings at La Fortuna Arenal Volcano Rain Forest Reserve, then take in the exciting artwork at Galeria Estudio, and finally relax and float downstream with a rafting and tubing tour.
