Quito

— 25 nights

Light of America

High in the Andean foothills, Quito remains one of the world's most photogenic capital cities, featuring two dramatic mountain ranges as its backdrop.
Change things up with these side-trips from Quito: Otavalo (Otavalo Market & Municipio de Otavalo), Cuicocha (in Cotacachi) and Cascada de Peguche (in Peguche). On the 17th (Wed), give your taste buds a day to remember with a local gastronomic tour. Saddle up on the 20th (Sat) and explore with a tour on horseback. There's still lots to do: take an in-depth tour of Museo Templo del Sol Pintor Ortega Maila, admire the masterpieces at Casa Museo Guayasamin, pause for some serene contemplation at Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco, and take in the spiritual surroundings of Fundacion Iglesia de la Compania.

To find more things to do, photos, and other tourist information, refer to the Quito trip app.

If you are flying in from Germany, the closest major aiports are Mariscal Sucre International Airport and Cotopaxi International Airport. In November, plan for daily highs up to 26°C, and evening lows to 16°C.
