Cycling may be one of the best ways to tour Maribor, a great base for exploring the surrounding area and conquering Pohorje Mountains.
Get a sense of the local culture at Ptuj Castle and Dveri Pax Winery. Get some historical perspective at Celje Castle and Celje Cathedral of Saint Daniel. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Maribor: Podčetrtek (Olimje Monastery & Spas), Church of Sv. Roka (in Šmarje Pri Jelšah) and Pragersko Railway Station (in Pragersko). The adventure continues: explore the striking landscape at Pyramid Archaeological Site, see the interesting displays at Old Vine House, ponder the world of politics at Town Hall, and learn about winemaking at Vinag Wine Cellar.

Brussels, Belgium to Maribor is an approximately 8-hour combination of flight and car. You can also drive. Traveling from Brussels in May, expect nights in Maribor to be about the same, around 11°C, while days are a bit warmer, around 24°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 28th (Sat) so you can take a shuttle to Ljubljana.

Ljubljana — 7 nights

Sitting astride the Ljubljanica River, Ljubljana is marked with picturesque bridges and a marketplace, designed by the famous architect Jože Plečnik.
Step off the beaten path and head to Cathedral of St. Nicholas and Franciscan Church of the Annunciation. Get some historical perspective at Cankarjevo Nabrežje and Ljubljana Castle. Get out of town with these interesting Ljubljana side-trips: Postojna Cave (in Postojna), Velika Planina (in Stahovica) and Idrija (Gewerkenegg Castle, Anthony's Shaft Mining Museum, &more). Spend the 2nd (Thu) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. There's still lots to do: visit Ljubljana Old Town, admire the masterpieces at National Gallery, step into the grandiose world of Puštal Castle, and take in the views from Triple Bridge.

Take a shuttle from Maribor to Ljubljana in 1.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In May, plan for daily highs up to 23°C, and evening lows to 9°C. On the 4th (Sat), you'll have the morning to explore before heading off to Bled.

Bled — 6 nights

The most popular resort in Slovenia, Bled is marked by its iconic church steeple and medieval castle on glacial Lake Bled.
Do some cultural sightseeing at Old Town Centre of Radovljica and Wine Tasting Bled. Get some historical perspective at Bled Castle and Church of St John the Baptist. Venture out of the city with trips to Bohinjsko Jezero (Lake Bohinj & Ukanc Military Cemetery), Mostnica Gorge (in Stara Fužina) and Peričnik Falls (in Mojstrana). Spend the 6th (Mon) exploring nature at Triglav National Park. Next up on the itinerary: take some stellar pictures from Mala Osojnica, stroll through Straža Bled, pause for some serene contemplation at Church of St. Andrew, and examine the collection at Kobarid Museum.

Traveling by car from Ljubljana to Bled takes an hour. Alternatively, you can take a bus; or take a train. In June in Bled, expect temperatures between 29°C during the day and 14°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Fri) to allow enough time to drive to Piran.

Piran — 6 nights

Considered one of the prettiest cities on the country's coast, Piran owes much of its development to salt.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like St. George's Church and Koper Cathedral and Bell Tower. Do some cultural sightseeing at Magical World of Shells Museum and Muda Gate. When in Piran, make a side trip to see Socerb Castle in Črni Kal, approximately Črni Kal away. Next up on the itinerary: contemplate the long history of First of May Square, pause for some serene contemplation at Marija Snežne Church, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Piran Minorite Monastery, and make a trip to Tartini Square.

You can drive from Bled to Piran in 2 hours. Other options are to take a bus; or do a combination of train and bus. Traveling from Bled in June, expect a bit warmer with lows of 18°C in Piran. On the 16th (Thu), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can drive back home.
