Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Philosopher's Walk as well as Arashiyama. Eikando Zenrinji Temple and Gion are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Take a train from Tokyo to Kyoto in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can fly; or drive. In September, plan for daily highs up to 33°C, and evening lows to 23°C. On the 3rd (Thu), wrap the sightseeing up by early afternoon so you can take a train to Osaka.

Get some cultural insight at Hakone Shrine / Kuzuryu Shrine Singu and Fujisan Hongu Sengen Taisha Shrine. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Hakone Ropeway and Kengamine. The adventure continues: get impressive views of Mount Fuji.

Traveling by car from Nikko to Hakone-machi takes 3.5 hours. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a train. Traveling from Nikko in October, expect nights in Hakone-machi to be about the same, around 17°C, while days are a bit cooler, around 19°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 18th (Fri) to allow enough time to travel to Tokyo.
