Unvanquished City

Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
Discover out-of-the-way places like Palacio da Bolsa and Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral). Popular historic sites such as Rua das Flores and Padrao do Salado are in your itinerary. Change things up with these side-trips from Porto: Falua Massage Studio (in Povoa de Varzim), Castelo de Santa Maria da Feira (in Santa Maria da Feira) and Praia do Furadouro (in Ovar). There's still lots to do: examine the collection at FC Porto Museum, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Consolacao e Santos Passos, enjoy the sand and surf at Praia da Baia, and look for all kinds of wild species at Parque de Avioso - S. Pedro.
