Called "Oporto" by many, the city of Porto along the Duoro River lent the country and Port wine their names. Portugal's second-largest metropolis dates back to the 4th century, representing both a rich cultural past and industrial present through its architecture and style.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Praia da Arda and Santuario de Santa Luzia. We've included these beaches for you: Mindelo Beach and Praia do Carneiro. Change things up with a short trip to Centro Historico de Guimaraes in Guimaraes (about 44 minutes away). Spend the 25th (Sat) wandering through the wild on a nature and wildlife tour. There's more to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Rio Douro and go for a stroll along the water at Cais da Ribeira.
