Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Escape the urban bustle at Kabira Bay and Fusaki Beach. Get some historical perspective at Yonehara Beach and Sukuji Bathing Beach. Step out of Ishigaki to go to Iriomote-jima and see Hoshisuna Beach, which is approximately 2 hours away. The adventure continues: visit a coastal fixture at Cape Hirakubozaki, make a trip to Nagomi Tower, kick back and relax at Kondoi Beach, and take a leisurely stroll along Nishi Pier.

Getting from Ishigaki to Hiroshima by combination of flight and train takes about 5.5 hours. Other options: fly. Prepare for little chillier weather when traveling from Ishigaki in June: high temperatures in Hiroshima hover around 30°C and lows are around 23°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 28th (Fri) early enough to catch the train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
For shopping fun, head to Gion or Dotonbori. Deepen your sense of the past at sights like Universal Studios Japan and Sanjusangendo Temple. Step out of Kyoto with an excursion to Osaka Castle in Osaka--about 1h 10 min away. The adventure continues: take in the spiritual surroundings of Kiyomizu-dera Temple, steep yourself in history at Heian Shrine, shop like a local with Nishiki Market, and explore the historical opulence of Nijo Castle.

You can take a train from Hiroshima to Kyoto in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 32°C in June, and nighttime lows around 22°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 2nd (Tue) so you can go by car to Fujikawaguchiko-machi.

Mount Fuji and Mt. Fuji 5th Station will appeal to history buffs. Head to Lake Kawaguchi and Kawaguchi Sengen Shrinefor plenty of shopping. When traveling from Fujikawaguchiko-machi in July, plan for a bit warmer days and about the same nights in Tokyo: temperatures range from 36°C by day to 27°C at night.
