Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Cape Hirakubozaki and Nei Museum of Art are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get outdoors at Kabira Bay and Kayaking & Canoeing. There's lots more to do: find your balance on the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, head outdoors with Yarabudake, tour the pleasant surroundings at Yonehara Beach, and enjoy the sand and surf at Kondoi Beach.

Brussels, Belgium to Ishigaki is an approximately 22-hour combination of train and flight. You can also fly; or do a combination of shuttle and flight. The time zone changes from Central European Time (CET) to Japan Standard Time (JST), which is usually an 8 hour difference. Do a combination of flight and train from Ishigaki to Hiroshima in 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly. Plan for cooler temperatures traveling from Ishigaki in February, with highs in Hiroshima at 11°C and lows at 3°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 1st (Fri) early enough to catch the train to Kyoto.

Get a sense of the local culture at Gion and Nijo Castle. Appreciate the collections at Todaiji Temple Cultural Center and Kyoto Museum of Traditional Crafts Fureaikan. Explore Kyoto's surroundings by going to Nara (Nara Park & Todai-ji Temple). There's still lots to do: take in the spiritual surroundings of Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, contemplate the long history of Sanjusangendo Temple, explore the historical opulence of Osaka Castle, and take a stroll through Dotonbori.

You can take a train from Hiroshima to Kyoto in 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect a daytime high around 16°C in March, and nighttime lows around 5°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 5th (Tue) to allow enough time to take a train to Nagoya.
