Paris of the North

Often referred to as "The Paris of the North," Riga offers thriving nightlife and some of the best collections of Art Nouveau architecture in Europe.
Kids will enjoy Jurmala Beach and Dzintari Forest Park. There's lots more to do: wander the streets of Old City Riga (Vecriga), browse the eclectic array of goods at Central Market (Centraltirgus), contemplate in the serene atmosphere at St. Peter's Church, and make a trip to Bremen Town Musicians.

Tel Aviv, Israel to Riga is an approximately 8-hour flight. Plan for little chillier temperatures traveling from Tel Aviv in July, with highs in Riga at 26°C and lows at 17°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 8th (Sat) so you can go by car to Vilnius.

The capital of Lithuania, Vilnius, boasts an impressive medieval quarter--one of the continent's largest and a World Heritage Site with almost 2,000 historical buildings.
You'll visit kid-friendly attractions like Walking tours and Hill of Three Crosses. Step out of Vilnius with an excursion to Trakai Island Castle Museum in Trakai--about 36 minutes away. There's much more to do: take an in-depth tour of Gediminas Castle Tower, examine the collection at KGB Museum (Genocido Auku Muziejus), take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Anne's Church, and admire the landmark architecture of Vilnius Cathedral.
