A trip to San Jose, the capital, commercial center, and cultural hub of Costa Rica, gives you a chance to experience the lively atmosphere and rich cultural past of this vibrant country.
Get in touch with nature at Jardins da Cachoeira de La Paz and Poas Volcano. Get a sense of the local culture at Museo Nacional De Costa Rica and Pre-Columbian Gold Museum. Get out of town with these interesting San Jose side-trips: Iglesia de San Pedro de Poas (in San Pedro de Poas) and Santuario Nacional Nuestra Senora de Los Angeles (in Cartago). Vancouver, Canada to San Jose is an approximately 13-hour flight. You can also do a combination of shuttle and flight; or drive. The time zone changes from Pacific Standard Time to Central Standard Time, which is usually a 2 hour difference. Expect much warmer temperatures when traveling from Vancouver in February; daily highs in San Jose reach 30°C and lows reach 21°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 9th (Sun) so you can drive to Turrialba.
