Sitting just a half-hour drive from Toronto, the city of Vaughan offers a quieter alternative to its noisy neighbor.
Museum-lovers will get to explore McMichael Canadian Art Collection and Horseless Carriage Museum. Head to ZimArt’s Rice Lake Gallery and Promenade Shopping Centrefor some retail therapy. Get out of town with these interesting Vaughan side-trips: Northwinds Beach (in Blue Mountains), Collingwood (Tremont Studios & St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church) and The Roost Wine Co. (in Ravenna). And it doesn't end there: have some family-friendly fun at Bad Axe Throwing, tour the pleasant surroundings at Cobourg Beach, get in on the family fun at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Toronto, and examine the collection at Nancy Island Historic Site.

If you are flying in from Uganda, the closest major airports are Lester B. Pearson International Airport and Billy Bishop Toronto City Centre Airport. Expect a daytime high around 1°C in December, and nighttime lows around -5°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 2nd (Thu) to allow time to travel back home.
