Tourism in Shari-cho, a small town situated on Hokkaido's eastern tip, flourishes mainly because of its immediate proximity to the Shiretoko World Heritage Site.
Kick off your visit on the 24th (Sun): look for all kinds of wild species at Shiretoko Peninsula, admire the sheer force of Kamuiwakka Hot Waterfall, contemplate the waterfront views at Shiretoko Goko Lake, then take in the dramatic scenery at Furepe Waterfall, and finally admire the sheer force of Oshin Koshin Falls. Keep things going the next day: get outside with Road to Heaven, then take in the dramatic natural features at Godzilla Rock, and then make a trip to Oshinkosin Observation Deck.

The hilly port city of Nagasaki has become known internationally as one of the two Japanese cities to be destroyed by an atomic bomb towards the close of World War II. This history, of course, remains important to the city, its inhabitants, and to the wider world, and should not be forgotten.
On the 9th (Mon), steep yourself in history at Nyokodo, Nagai Takashi Museum, get engrossed in the history at Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, see the interesting displays at Nagasaki Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, then stroll around Nagasaki Peace Park, then don't miss a visit to Peace Memorial Statue, and finally take an in-depth tour of Nagasaki Museum of History and Culture. On the 10th (Tue), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: snap pictures at Megane Bridge, explore the world behind art at Nagasaki Prefectural Art Museum, then steep yourself in history at Glover Garden, then walk around Nabekanmuriyama Park, and finally take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Mt. Inasa.

Fly from Yakushima-cho to Nagasaki in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of ferry and train; or do a combination of ferry and car. Traveling from Yakushima-cho in October, expect slightly colder with lows of 20°C in Nagasaki. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 10th (Tue) to allow time to fly back home.
