Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Get some historical perspective at Sensō-ji and Tokyo National Museum. Shop till you drop at Ginza and Takeshita Street. Change things up with a short trip to Tokyo DisneySea in Maihama (about 30 minutes away). Have a day of magic on the 31st (Tue) at Tokyo Disneyland. The adventure continues: take in nature's colorful creations at Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, get your game on at Owl cafe Akiba Fukurou, get a sense of history and politics at Tokyo Metropolitan Government Buildings, and examine the collection at Edo-Tokyo Museum.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Give yourself a bit of retail therapy at Dotonbori and Fuuka-Kimono. Get some historical perspective at Nijo Castle and Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine. Go for a jaunt from Kyoto to Osaka to see Universal Studios Japan about 1h 15 min away. And it doesn't end there: make a trip to Kiyomizu-dera Temple, take a stroll through Gion, take in the spiritual surroundings of Heian Shrine, and steep yourself in history at Sanjusangendo Temple.

You can drive from Fujikawaguchiko-machi to Kyoto in 4.5 hours. Alternatively, you can do a combination of bus and train; or do a combination of bus and flight. Traveling from Fujikawaguchiko-machi in April, you will find days in Kyoto are a bit warmer (22°C), and nights are about the same (11°C). Finish up your sightseeing early on the 9th (Thu) so you can catch the train to Hiroshima.

Your inner history buff will appreciate Miyajima and Daishoin Temple. Itsukushima Shrine and Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get out of town with these interesting Hiroshima side-trips: Mt. Misen (in Miyajima) and Itsukushima Gekijyo (in Hatsukaichi). There's still lots to do: make a trip to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, explore the historical opulence of Hiroshima Castle, get engrossed in the history at Hiroshima National Peace Memorial Hall for the Atomic Bomb Victims, and appreciate the history behind Atomic Bomb Dome.

Traveling by train from Kyoto to Hiroshima takes 2 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In April, daily temperatures in Hiroshima can reach 22°C, while at night they dip to 13°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 12th (Sun) so you can travel to Ishigaki.

Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Escape the urban bustle at Kabira Bay and Cape Hirakubozaki. On the 14th (Tue), spend an adventurous day with a kayaking and canoeing tour. There's lots more to do: find your balance on the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, head outdoors with Yarabudake, look for gifts at Pinion Direct Shop, and explore the fascinating underground world of Ishigaki Island Limestone Cave.

Traveling by combination of train and flight from Hiroshima to Ishigaki takes 5.5 hours. Alternatively, you can fly. Plan for somewhat warmer temperatures traveling from Hiroshima in April, with highs in Ishigaki at 30°C and lows at 24°C. Wrap up your sightseeing by early afternoon on the 16th (Thu) to allow time for travel back home.
