A gateway to a sprawling and diverse national park, a center of Shinto spiritualism and place of Buddhist worship, an emblem of the riches and dominance of the Tokugawa shogunate: Nikko means many things to many people.
Start off your visit on the 23rd (Sat): take in the pleasant sights at Nikko Tamozawa Imperial Villa Memorial Park and then take in the spiritual surroundings of Nikko Tosho-gu. On the 24th (Sun), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: steep yourself in history at Taiyuimbyo Shrine, take in the dramatic scenery at Kegon Falls, then tour the pleasant surroundings at Nikko National Park, and finally stop by Fujiya.

Tel Aviv, Israel to Nikko is an approximately 18.5-hour combination of flight, tram, and train. You can also do a combination of flight and train. You'll lose 7 hours traveling from Tel Aviv to Nikko due to the time zone difference. Plan for slightly colder temperatures traveling from Tel Aviv in March, with highs in Nikko at 13°C and lows at 10°C.
