The Motor City

Founded in 1701 by a French explorer and adventurer, Detroit exerted a profound impact on the world for most of the 20th century.
On the 15th (Fri), see the interesting displays at Greenfield Village, see the interesting displays at The Henry Ford, and then steep yourself in history at Motown Museum. Keep things going the next day: stop by Morley Candy Makers - The Home of Sanders Candy, contemplate the long history of Yates Cider Mill, and then take a stroll through Depot Town.

To find more things to do, reviews, where to stay, and more tourist information, you can read our Detroit trip planner.

New York City to Detroit is an approximately 3.5-hour flight. You can also drive; or take a bus. In October, Detroit is a bit cooler than New York City - with highs of 63°F and lows of 48°F. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 16th (Sat) so you can catch the flight back home.
