Seward — 1 night

Alaska Starts Here

For most visitors to this part of the world, the wild part of Alaska starts at Seward, a small port city that takes advantage of the region's natural beauty.
Kick off your visit on the 29th (Tue): pause for some serene contemplation at Resurrection Lutheran Church, then identify plant and animal life at Exit Glacier, then contemplate the waterfront views at Resurrection Bay, and finally get engrossed in the history at Seward Community Library & Museum. On the next day, explore the striking landscape at Pederson Glacier and then take an in-depth tour of Chugach Heritage Center.

For reviews, ratings, more things to do, and other tourist information, you can read our Seward trip planner.

Anchorage to Seward is an approximately 2.5-hour car ride. You can also take a bus. Traveling from Anchorage in March, Seward is somewhat warmer at night with lows of -3°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 30th (Wed) so you can drive back home.
